Covid-19 Restrictions
UPDATE as of 4/29: ALL Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted! Among the things that are NO LONGER REQUIRED:
Self-quarantine, on-site testing, and travel visas have all been lifted for foreign tourists. However, there are still certain restrictions and requirements to get into Japan.
Vaccination OR Negative Covid-19 Test To get into the country you need either one, not both . With the vaccination, it must be three doses (two initial, one booster) unless you received the Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine, where only two doses (one initial, one booster) are acceptable. Your vaccination card must be a) issued by a government or public institution and b) be in English or Japanese. Visit the official Ministry of Health website on vaccines here. If you are not vaccinated, you must test within 72 hours of our flight to Japan. The Covid-19 test must be a COVID-19 PCR test done by a doctor. At home antigen tests are not valid. See examples of valid & invalid tests here. Your doctor must also fill out a Certificate of Testing for COVID-19 issued by the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare of Japan. You can download and print a PDF of it here. Please make sure when you get tested there is a doctor present to fill out the form. Nurses or other medical staff cannot fill it out. If you are under 18 and are traveling with you parent(s), regardless of their vaccination status, you do not need to be vaccinated or tested. Mask Requirements Masks are still heavily enforced in Japan. Wearing them outdoors and during our games is not necessary, but they are 100% required everywhere else. It is also considered socially unacceptable to not wear them, so if you are looking for a smooth experience please be courteous and mask at all times. MySOS/Fast Track MySOS is a mobile app you need to download in order to travel; the use of this is called Fast Track and will allow you to get through Japan border customs quickly. You need to register your passport as well as submit your vaccination certificate or negative Covid-19 test. The app will give you simple, step-by-step guides on what to do. See detailed steps here. A general tip: PRINT EVERYTHING! It's super easy to get online documents mixed up, so make sure you have a paper copy of everything. That includes a copy of your passport, boarding pass, ID (if you have one), vaccination card/Covid test, etc. |
IMPORTANT: Medication, Restricted items, etc.
Some prescription medications are prohibited in Japan. If found, you will be subject to prosecution regardless of medical documents or declaration forms. Be aware of inhalers and allergy/sinus medications such as Actifed, Sudafed, and Vicks inhalers, as these contain stimulants and are therefore prohibited.
